ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm Jo, a part time veterinary surgeon and part time traveller from London, UK.

I am passionate about mental health, travel realities and keeping it real!

After the pandemic, like most people, I questioned what really made me happy and in August 2021 I quit my job to chase my dreams.. Living in a van in South America.

I travelled around Chile, Argentina, Bolivia and Peru (with a brief breakdown in Brazil) for a year and when I came back, I tried to get back into the swing of full time work... and lasted around 3 weeks before buying another one way flight. This time, I was volunteering at a sea turtle rehabilitation centre in the Maldives for 6 months.

When I came home in February 2023, I knew my life had to change. I ended an 8 year relationship that just wasn't working anymore and am still in search of my forever travel buddy. But for now, I've prioritised myself and fallen into a rhythm that feels good - part time work as a vet to help animals and build up my funds, followed my long trips abroad. I'm currently using Vetster's platform to carry out online vet consults to help fund my travels
(click the link at the top of the page to check it out).

In 2007 I was diagnosed with clinical depression and had a bumpy ride through school, where I lost my ex boyfriend to suicide. I somehow pushed through my exams and got into veterinary university but my mental health got worse. So, I've spent the last 5 years prioritising myself, going to therapy, practising mindfulness and now I'm the strongest I've ever been and help inspire others to overcome their mental illness and live the life they dream of.

I always want to portray the good, bad and the ugly of travelling. Social media can often paint a pretty skewed view, but I will always make it my mission to remain vulnerable and create a safe space for others to start conversations about their emotions. It's okay not to be okay!

So, welcome to my community of dreamers, travellers and animal lovers - here's to the next adventure!

Peace out,

Jo
